LBT2 Edit
Close-up view of the inner wall of the mold during the spin-casting of one of the mirrors for the Large Binocular Telescope. (The inner wall defines the Cassegrain hole at the center of the mirror.) This time-lapse movie covers about 30 hours of real time. The glass starts as roughly 5 kg blocks, which melt together then flow down into the mold. As the glass surfaces liquifies, you see the ceramic fiber mold (hexagonal boxes) through about 60 mm of glass. Marks on the wall indicate height above the mold pieces, in inches.

Fascinating! A slower version would be good.
